LPG cylinder reduced by Rs 36 on Monday

In line with the crisis in international rates, the price of a commercial LPG cylinder was reduced by Rs 36 on Monday.

This price change will benefit hotels, restaurants and other businesses that use gas cylinders. Meanwhile, the price of domestic cooking gas cylinders used in households remains unchanged.

With the latest reduction, the price of a 19 kg commercial LPG cylinder in Delhi has come down to Rs 1,976 from Rs 2,012.50, news agency ANI reported citing state-owned fuel retailers.

In Mumbai, it will be Rs 1936.50 instead of Rs 1972.50. In Kolkata, a 19 kg cylinder will cost Rs 2095.50 instead of Rs 2132. In Chennai it is Rs 2,141 and in Bengaluru it is Rs 2,063.50 for a 19 kg LPG cylinder. Its price in Hyderabad will be ₹2197.50. Rates vary from state to state depending on local VAT

This is the fourth time in the last four months that LPG gas cylinder prices have come down. Earlier in June, the central government had reduced the price of 19 kg commercial LPG cylinders by Rs 135 per cylinder.

Meanwhile, the price of a domestic 14.2 kg LPG cylinder was hiked by ₹50 on July 7. Customers who used to pay ₹1040.50 are now paying ₹1090.50 per cylinder.

The fact that the price of domestic cooking gas has not come down in line with the fall in the price of commercial cooking gas cylinder is a big setback among the common people.

In terms of supply arrangements, lower crude oil prices earlier this week led to lower cooking gas prices.

Brent crude futures were down 63 cents, or 0.6 percent, at $103.34 a barrel in the US. West Texas Intermediate crude was down 75 cents, or 0.7 percent, at $97.87 a barrel in early trade in Asia.
